The Australia Day tournament this summer is again a three day event:

Saturday 24th January: men's/women's pairs

Sunday 25th January: mixed fours

Monday 26th January: mixed pairs

The competition took place at Kingston Beach (Browns River end). Seeding was based on past results, including Round 1 (29th/30th November), and further seeding points were allocated from both these results toward entry at the State Beach Volleyball Championships on 14-15 February.

Competition Report - Saturday 24th January:

With an improving weather forecast for the weekend, it was looking good for the tournament. Little did we know how massive it was going to be! Lots of teams and lots of great, close matches. Men's Div 1 was taken out by our visitors from Cairns, whilst some other visitors from the big V took out Div 2. In women's Div 1, the locals exacted some revenge over our Cairns guests, but the girls from Vic got over the line in Div 2.

Competition Report - Monday 26th January:

It was a fantastic Australia Day - and what better way to spend it than a day at the beach!?!? Alongside the beach cricket, sand sculpting and other events, the beach volleyballers toiled it out in the sun all day. Most of the crew even found a second calling by taking out the Tug-O-War event in both men's and women's - a wonderfully successful day for all. In the volleyball, though, it was the locals Phil & Shinano who took out Div 1 over their QLD opponents (who had an awesome weekend, by the way), Div 2 was an all interstate affair, whilst Div 3 handed Adam & Trina their maiden victory!
